I want to change myself - is meditation right for me?
What is your expectation when you sit down to meditate? Do you want to change? What, and why?
Although meditation can change yourself in the long run, don't pressure yourself to change. Pressure will take the joy out of meditating, and you will quickly lose your motivation to do it.
Meditation helps you to access your own happiness and inner well-being. Meditation is a way to see yourself more clearly. It is about accepting yourself and others how they are.
And in seeing yourself more clearly, you learn to see negative thoughts and let go of them quicker.
“Meditation practice isn't about trying to throw ourselves away and become something better. It's about befriending who we are already.” ― Pema Chödrön
