The great thing about communication methods is that it's often sufficient if only one party knows about them. That’s the case with the Triforce.
The Triforce of Communication works by communicating clearly what you (or the other person) are trying to get out of the conversation.
Triforce #1: You just want to inform and don't seek any advice or sympathy. May be a one-sided vent or info about something.
Triforce #2: You want sympathy, reassurance, or understanding, but don't want any advice.
Triforce #3: You're seeking advice. May include sympathy, reassurance, or understanding if you want that and ask for it.
This prevents a rather typical misunderstanding where you just want to vent and maybe get told you're right, but don't want any advice. Some people default to giving advice, so it's great communicating what you want beforehand.
This works the other way around. If someone tells you something, ask them whether they just want to inform you, or if they want empathy/sympathy/reassurance, or if they want advice.
